Mental health training for businesses

Good examples of employer mental health training programs available in NSW include:

Black Dog Institute’s workplace training programs are built on current, proven research and are delivered by fully qualified facilitators. Specific topics include; organisational change and mental health, growing a resilient organisation, managing for team wellbeing, understanding your mental health and mental health is everyone’s business. 

beyondblue National Workplace Program (NWP) is a training program specifically for workplaces. It aims to increase the knowledge and skills of staff, managers, human resources (HR) and organisational leaders to address mental health conditions in the workplace.

Mindful Employer training increases awareness and understanding about mental illness and mental health concerns as they may commonly present in the workplace. It empowers managers and staff to address mental health issues at the earliest stages of presentation. An additional option and business incentive with this training is a workshop covering ‘Effective customer service for people who have a mental illness’. 

Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. Programs include workplace train the trainer.
